Debonne.net is a private Internet server run by Yann Debonne strictly as a hobby. This is not a money-making venture and all services are rendered only to friends and family of the proprietor.

Ironically debonne.net hosts services for serious businesses who don’t look upon the duties of the server as anything lightly, and heavily rely upon it’s reliability. This is one of the greatest, yet most fulfilling challenges of this very time demanding hobby.

The server is run on the Linux operating system. Linux was initially created as a hobby by a young student, Linus Torvalds, at the University of Helsinki in Finland. Linus had an interest in Minix, a small UNIX system, and decided to develop a system that exceeded the Minix standards. He began his work in 1991 when he released version 0.02 and worked steadily until 1994 when version 1.0 of the Linux Kernel was released.

Linux is an independent POSIX implementation and includes true multitasking, virtual memory, shared libraries, demand loading, proper memory management, TCP/IP networking, and other features consistent with Unix-type systems. Developed under the
GNU General Public License, the source code for Linux is freely available to everyone.

Finally, debonne.net would not exist if it weren’t for the help, patience, guidance and initial system build by
Jim Henderson. DNS service would not be….well, a service on debonne.net if it weren’t for Alan Wright, not to mention his plethora of assistance in helping to keep this server going. Thanks to both individuals for their selfless devotion to always being "on-call" when desperately needed!
